Approach to Psychotherapy
“Psychotherapy takes place at the overlap of two areas of playing: that of the patient and that of the therapist. Psychotherapy has to do with two people playing together.” - D.W. Winnicott
I work from an integrative, evidence based, and client centred framework, tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs, goals, cultural context, and developmental stage. We make use of various therapeutic modalities to formulate the treatment plan and guide the therapeutic process. Treatment planning is collaborative, transparent, and guided by ongoing assessment and informed consent.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy explores how early experiences, unconscious processes, and relational patterns impact current functioning. By increasing insight into recurring emotional and relational patterns, this approach supports meaningful and lasting psychological change.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
DBT provides support to individuals who experience emotional dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties, and/or distress intolerance. It integrates acceptance based and change oriented strategies, focusing on skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Gestalt therapy (GT)
GT is collaborative, present focused approach that considers the whole person- mind, body sensations, emotions, and relationships. By fostering awareness of how these elements interact in the here-and-now, GT helps clients develop insight, integrate their experiences, and build more authentic, balanced ways of living. This approach supports understanding of oneself, personal responsibility, and meaningful growth in everyday life.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured approach that examines the relationships between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. It supports clients in identifying and modifying unhelpful cognitive and behavioural patterns, developing effective coping strategies, and working toward clearly defined treatment goals.
Person Centred Therapy
Person Centred Therapy emphasises the therapeutic relationship as a core mechanism of change. Grounded in empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity, this approach supports clients in exploring their experiences in a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental environment, fostering self-awareness, autonomy, and psychological growth.
Trauma Focused Interventions
Trauma-focused interventions are delivered using a trauma informed and phase based approach, prioritising safety, stabilisation, and emotional regulation. Treatment is paced collaboratively and integrates evidence based strategies to support recovery from traumatic and adverse experiences.
